About mdkit

A free, browser-based Markdown workspace for developers, writers, and content creators.

What mdkit is

mdkit is a focused Markdown toolkit. It gives you a real-time editor, 21+ copy-paste templates spanning software development, business, education, and personal productivity, plus three converters for Markdown ↔ HTML and Markdown → PDF.

It exists because the default path for anyone working with Markdown — READMEs, docs, blog drafts, meeting notes — is a scattered mess of disconnected browser tabs, desktop apps, and online converters of uneven quality. mdkit puts the essentials in one place, browser-only, free.

Our principles

Privacy by default

Every tool runs in your browser. Your Markdown, HTML, and PDFs never touch our servers. We don't need your text to make the product work, so we don't take it.

No signup, ever

You shouldn't need an account to convert a file or copy a template. Everything on mdkit is usable on first visit, permanently free for personal and commercial use.

Speed over features

We prefer three tools that load instantly over thirty that take five seconds each. Every page is statically generated and tuned for a fast first paint.

Honest content

Our blog and templates are written to actually help, not to pad the site with SEO filler. If a guide doesn't teach you something concrete, it doesn't ship.

Our story

mdkit started as a small side project to solve a specific frustration: there was no single place to edit Markdown, grab a solid template, and convert to HTML or PDF without toggling between five different websites. Each of those tools existed; none of them lived together.

Since then, the project has grown into a small library of Markdown utilities and a writing-focused blog covering the format itself — cheat sheets, workflow guides, and practical advice for technical writers, bloggers, and engineers. Everything you see is maintained by the mdkit Team and updated based on what actual users ask for.

How the site is built

  • Static — every page is pre-rendered as HTML at build time. There's no server-side rendering or database behind the scenes for the tools.
  • Client-only processing — converters run in your browser. We never see the content you paste.
  • Analytics — we use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymization to understand which pages are most useful. No individual user tracking.
  • Ads — we may display Google ads to cover hosting. See the Privacy Policy for details.
