Privacy Policy

mdkit.io (“mdkit,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) provides browser-based Markdown tools, templates, and guides. This policy explains what data is processed when you use the site and what choices you have.

The main distinction is between document content, which supported tools process locally in your browser, and ordinary website data such as page requests, optional analytics, and messages you choose to email us.

Text you type or paste into the editor and converters is processed by code running in your browser. mdkit does not intentionally transmit or store that document content on its servers.

• No account is required for the current editor, templates, or tools.
• Copied templates are handled by your browser and clipboard.
• PDF generation and document conversion occur on your device in supported tools.

This local-processing statement does not mean the page itself makes no network requests. Loading mdkit still involves our hosting provider, and Google Analytics loads only if you allow it as described below.

Depending on how you use mdkit, the following information may be processed:

• Hosting data: IP address, request time, requested URL, browser information, and security-related logs needed to deliver and protect the site.
• Contact data: your email address, message, and any information you include when you contact us.
• Consent preference: a value stored in your browser indicating whether you allowed optional analytics.
• Analytics data: only after consent, information such as pages viewed, referrer, device category, and approximate location derived by Google Analytics.

We use this information to provide and secure the site, answer messages, understand which content is useful when analytics is permitted, and improve mdkit. We do not sell personal information or use document content to train machine-learning models.

Google Analytics 4 is optional on mdkit. It does not load until you select Allow analytics in the preference notice. If you reject analytics, the editor, templates, and tools remain available.

You can reopen Cookie settings from the button at the bottom of the page. Withdrawing consent stops analytics after the page reloads. You may also clear site data in your browser.

mdkit stores the consent choice in local storage so we do not ask on every visit. If analytics is allowed, Google may set analytics cookies and process a pseudonymous client identifier. Google states that GA4 does not log or store individual IP addresses, although the address is used in transit to derive approximate location data. Learn more in Google's GA4 privacy documentation.

Google Analytics. If you allow analytics, Google processes usage information on our behalf under its applicable terms. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Hosting. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process standard server logs for security and performance. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

mdkit does not currently display ads or load Google AdSense. If advertising is introduced, we will update this policy before launch and use the consent controls required for the regions in which ads are served. The current analytics preference notice is not presented as an advertising CMP.

• Your analytics preference remains in your browser until you change it or clear site data.
• Contact messages are retained for as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, maintain necessary records, or resolve a dispute.
• Hosting and security logs are retained according to Cloudflare's service settings and policies.
• When analytics is allowed, Google Analytics data is retained according to the property configuration and Google's policies.

We do not set a retention period for document content because mdkit does not intentionally receive that content.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data.
• Object to or restrict certain processing.
• Withdraw previously granted consent.
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

You can reject or withdraw optional analytics through Cookie settings. For requests concerning other personal data, contact contact@mdkit.io. We may need enough information to verify and process your request.

mdkit is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and where appropriate we will provide additional notice on the site.
